Ibanian classes go virtual
The problems caused by big increase in enrollment compelled INHS (Ibayiw National High School) to use online facilities in delivering instruction.
The platform being used by INHS in delivering online instruction is DVLE (Dokeos Virtual Learning Environment) courtesy of eMinima.
eMinima is a group of elearning enthusiasts headed by UPLB (University of the Philippines) professor Dr. Rufino S. Mananghaya. It is also a name for a group of elearning platforms that are free, portable, and easy to use.
INHS principal Dr. Laurita P. Arca put the use of DVLE under an action research study. She wishes to test its effectiveness when used as platform for teaching Science and Technoloigy.
Instead of asking Science teachers to add 60 minutes per week in teaching the subject via face to face mode, they will be asked to develop online modules during their most convenient times.

INHS enrolment leaps high
Enrolment at INHS (Ibayiw National High School) leaped high from 558 last school year to 646 this school year.
Two new sections were formed, one in first year and one in second year, to fit the number of students to the classroom size.
The average teacher-student ratio at INHS is now 1:59 (one against fifty nine).
INHS teachers got no choice but to handle six loads under their specialization plus either Values Education or MAPEH (Music Arts Physical Education and Health).
To address the problems caused by the big leap on enrollment, the administration currently tries to get back the teacher I item borrowed by BEFMNHS (Buenaventura E Fandialan Memorial National High School) and requests for teacher items at the provincial governor's office.
